Fitting a blog into your routine, market your site and get traffic

Fitting a blog into your routine can be very difficult, even if you are a pro and already do this daily. But if you really want to market your site, and get traffic to it as quickly as possible it’s the only way to go.

How can you blog daily?

  1. Schedule your blog posts in advance
If you are using WordPress (and if you are blogging you SHOULD be using WordPress) you have the ability to schedule all of your posts in advance. This allows you to be ahead of the game incase anything comes up that might keep you from otherwise posting. But remember to keep it up; don’t let yourself get behind at all.
  2. Put yourself on a publishing schedule
Imagine your website (which your blog should be on/in your site) being a magazine or newspaper. Just like a magazine or newspaper you have to have content ready for review and then editing before it’s even ready to publish. Some content doesn’t go out right away and takes time to develop and other bits of content need to be pushed out right away. Either way you are pushing content out on a constant basis.
  3. Prepare a list of 50 topics and have it ready at all times
Writing is a tricky thing, just because you can write about it doesn’t mean you should or can in the moment. That’s why having a list of 50 topics at all times is very helpful. It gives you a list of ideas to pull from and get creative with. Just remember to refill your list every time you use a topic otherwise its use is null.
  4. It’s okay if it sucks
Writing every day is a task, and can drain a lot of creativity so let’s be honest. If you are the only one delivering content to your blog then you need to realize not everything is going to be a winner.  Sometimes your content will be just plain bad… and that’s okay!

One of this biggest road blocks with blogging is simply doing it even when you don’t feel like it at all. In the end saying that you can’t fit a blog into your schedule is silly. With blogging being one of the cheapest and more effective ways to market online it’s almost foolish to not have one.
